Change log: Bada 1.2 Software Update for Samsung Wave

14 May 2011Entry by 2 Comments

Today the Samsung Bada 1.2 software update became available in my region, so I decided to give it a shot with my Samsung S8500 Wave.

Samsung S8500 Wave Bada T9 Trace Swype

There’s quite a few changes, some of them not very noticeable, others just plain obvious. Logically, software updates always fix bugs, and sometimes bring new features. This isn’t Bada 2.0, which may release later this year, so do not expect a huge revolution.

One of the biggest changes is that I can now use the phone completely even when it is connected to the computer. This used to be very annoying, as when I was using it for mass storage, the phone would just completely block sometimes. Now we can let it charge through the computer – at the office, for example – and continue using it.

T9 Trace, similar to Swype for many other phones, now works completely on the Samsung Wave, and it even has swear words!

Unfortunately this update cannot be installed through OTA (over-the-air), only through Samsung Kies, the PC Suite for the device. But it is worth it, as it becomes even faster than it already is!

If you are interested in checking out other Samsung phones, such as the Android-based Galaxy S, I’d advise you to read more through this link.
